Ganesa, Gajanan, Ganapati, Vinayak, which is another name for Ganesh, means the "God who has power over obstacles". Panchamukhi Ganesh
The five-faced Gajanan is called Panchmukhi Ganesha. Here Panch means five and Mukhi means mouth. These are also symbols of the five koshas. The origin, development, destruction and movement of the soul in the Vedas. Explained through Panchkosha. These Panchkoshas are also called five types of bodies. 1. Annamaya kosha- This is the first kosha, under it the entire material world like earth, stars, planets, constellations etc. 2. Pranamaya kosha- This is the second kosha, under which the air element gradually awakens due to prana coming into the root and Many types of creatures appear from it. This is called pranamaya kosha. 3. Manomaya kosha- This is the third kosha, under which the mind is awakened in the creatures and in which the mind is more awake. That is what makes man. 4. Vigyanamaya Kosha- One who gets the knowledge of worldly illusions, illusions under this fourth kosha. walk the path of truth Only the bodhi that is there is in the vigyanmaya kosha. It is realized by the wise man only when he goes beyond the intellect. 5. Anandamaya kosha- In the fifth kosha, it is said that after attaining the knowledge of this kosha, a human will attain samadhi. becomes superhuman. Human beings have the power to become God and by getting the knowledge of this dictionary, he becomes perfect. is male. A person who is liberated from these five shells is considered liberated and he becomes Brahman. The five faces of Ganesha represent these five forms of creation.
Panchmukhi Ganesha is also considered a symbol of four directions and one universe, so he protects from all four directions. Those five protect the elements. Keeping them in the north or east direction in the house is auspicious.

Barsur Ganesh Temple is famous all over the world. This temple is located in Barsoor village of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. The construction of this temple was established in the 11th century by King Banasur of Chhindak Nagvansh, where the world's third largest idol of Lord Ganesha is located. It is said that in the whole world only Barsur has the twin idol of Lord Ganesha.The huge idol of Lord Ganesha is 7.5 feet high and the second idol is 5.5 feet high. This special cover issued by India Post from Mumbai as on 14th September 2024, to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Vandre (West). This mandal is renowned for creating replicas of prominent historical structures during Ganesh Chaturthi.
This craft relies on locally available woods such as Country wood, Vaagai wood, Maavulinga, Atthi, Illupai, Mango tree wood, Rosewood, and Teak. These woods provide durability and enhance the beauty of the carvings. Among the exquisite creations of Kallakurichi Wood Carving are wooden sculptures of deities, especially Lord Ganesha. Ganpati idols carved from wood are a testament to the artisans’ precision and devotion. These intricately detailed idols symbolize wisdom, prosperity, and the removal of obstacles, making them ideal for homes and temples.
In 2021, Kallakurichi Wood Carving received recognition as a Geographical Indication by the Government of India. This acknowledgment has helped preserve the authenticity of the craft while supporting the artisans who have kept this tradition alive for generations.
