NEJD STAMPS COLLECTION

Nejd (Najd) was a historic region in the central Arabian Peninsula, covering much of what is now central Saudi Arabia, including the Riyadh area. In 1902, Abdulaziz Ibn Saud captured Riyadh and began consolidating his rule over Nejd. By 1921, most of Nejd was under his control. After the conquest of Hejaz in 1924, the territories were united under his rule, and in 1927 he was recognized as King of Hejaz and Nejd. In 1932, Hejaz and Nejd were formally united to establish the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing Nejd into the modern Saudi state.
